This O’Brien family had lived in Scariff for at least 100 years

John O’Brien b. 1816

John O’Brien had two children by his first marriage to Bridget “Wigs” Hynes

1. John O’Brien (came to New Zealand initially then subsequently moved to Australia)

2. Mary O’Brien

On Bridget’s early death, these two children were bought up by the Hynes grandparents, in Whitegate County Clare.

John then married Margaret Malone and they had five children before John’s death in 1867

These 5 children all left Ireland

After John’s death, Robert Guerin came to manage the farm. He and Margaret married having another 6 children
